Green Leaf is excited to be featured by World Wildlife Foundation’s “The Next California” initiative. It aims to strengthen America’s food system by reducing reliance on California for fruit, vegetable, and nut production to regions like the Delta that can grow these crops sustainably.

Our partnership with Memphis organization Knowledge Quest is really making a difference for grandparents like Sherron Harris, Carolyn Murray, and their children. The program focuses on helping families with their home, their health, and opportunities. It’s also an important part of our Two Generation approach to improving the lives of multiple generations at the same time.
Bates Family Impact
The Bates family is a beautiful example of the lasting impact of Knowledge Quest across generations. As a longtime KQ family, their journey reflects the power of strong relationships, community support, and opportunities that help families thrive.
Ms. Bates continues to give back through her service as a member of the Knowledge Quest Board of Directors, helping guide the organization that has been part of her family’s story for many years. We are grateful to the Women’s Foundation of Greater Memphis for spotlighting the Bates family and sharing their inspiring connection to Knowledge Quest.

I happen to be one of those blessed individuals who still lives, works and worships in the neighborhood of his childhood.
I grew up with three generations under the same roof. On the two streets that formed a ‘T’ in my South Memphis neighborhood, this was not some
phenomena. It was commonplace. Every household held three generations.

Food Fight: The Battle to Eliminate Memphis’ Food Deserts
If you drive through Midtown, there are no shortages of places to find fresh food. In fact, there are three full-scale grocery stores within a one-mile radius of each other. But, as you venture further south, along Bellevue into South Memphis, you won’t find many grocery stores. Instead, you’ll see streets lined with fast food joints, dollar stores, and corner stores selling junk food, beer, cigarettes, and a few overpriced groceries such as white bread and milk.
