Clubhouse Mentor Position Description

Title: Clubhouse Mentor

Purpose of the Position:
The Clubhouse is an after-school learning environment where young people explore their own interests and become confident learners through the use of technology. Mentors are a key part of the Clubhouse community, supporting the learning and exploration of Clubhouse Members. Clubhouse Members and mentors are not matched; rather, mentors and Members organically collaborate and develop relationships in the Clubhouse space.

Responsibilities:
Being available to Clubhouse Members and staff to provide assistance, support, and encouragement to Clubhouse Members.

Specific Duties:

  • Orient, welcome, and guide new Members
  • Help to identify Members that might need extra support or encouragement
  • Provide general help to Members
  • Offer encouragement to Members
  • Work one-on-one with Members, as Members wish
  • Develop meaningful relationships with Members
  • Offer specific guidance or workshops in areas of expertise
  • Organize special projects (based on interest)
  • Support Members in thinking about career/college opportunities
  • Engage in your own learning and exploration

Qualifications:

  • Interest in the Clubhouse philosophy
  • Experience and/or interest in working with young people
  • Curiosity and interest in learning more about technology, working with young people, and being part of the Clubhouse Community
  • Background check
  • Open to new people and ideas
  • Technical and/or art skills or commitment to developing skills

Levels of Commitment (Minimum commitment of 3 months):

Level 1-Hours: 1-3 hours at least one day per week
Level 2- Twice a month (bi weekly) 2-6 hours
Level 3- Special Projects (i.e. Workshops) [commitment to be negotiated]
